Programme Overview
The Master of Science (MSc) in Corporate Governance, pending QQI validation, is a Level 9 programme (worth 90 ECTS credits) and was developed jointly by Hibernia College and Accountancy School. Both institutions are nationally and internationally recognised and have extensive experience in providing flexible, accessible and innovative online programmes. The programme aims to provide learners with an academically rigorous course of study of corporate governance, leading to professional accreditation with the internationally recognised professional governing body, the Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland (CGIUKI). It is specifically designed to meet the education and training needs of the corporate governance and compliance profession.
The part-time nature and blended model of delivery make this programme particularly suitable for learners seeking a more flexible postgraduate option.
Who is the programme aimed at?
The MSc in Corporate Governance is aimed at graduates with business or law qualifications and professionals employed, or seeking employment, in highly regulated areas such as company secretarial, finance, corporate law, financial services, funds management and other related regulated fields involving corporate governance and compliance. Governance professionals will be involved in developing and implementing governance policies and frameworks; ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements; advising boards of directors and senior management on governance best practices; overseeing risk management and controls; and enhancing stakeholder communication and engagement.
For those with an appropriate undergraduate degree, this programme may facilitate a career switch. Bolstered by the accompanying professional accreditation, it may provide opportunities to pursue new employment prospects in the areas or corporate governance and compliance.
